Hello Healthy life Achievers, do permit me to welcome you all once more to this platform, Your Healthy Life Enterprise and today we shall be looking at some ways to lead a healthy life part 2, the magic of fruits. We shall expose the many health benefits of some fruits by tackling them disease-wise, that is, we shall be listing the various fruits that help combat or prevent any health disorder.
What are fruits?
Generally, fruits are the fleshy tasty products that result or arise when plants’ flowers fade off (or wither). Most of these fruits are consumed by birds and animals while a considerable number of them by humans. However, many people out there neglect the consumption of these excellent, attractive, and edible outputs of plants. And those who consume these fruits barely understand why they eat them.
Why should I read this article?
Do you know that fruits are blessings to people prone to or affected by cancer? Ladies, are you aware that there are fruits that when you continually consume them, are capable of lowering or preventing your menstrual cramps? Men, do you know that there are fruits which when you take in improves your libido, thereby saving you from the shackles and emotional torture by your unsatisfied wife? All the obese, those affected with heart attack, the diabetics, the ladies who wish to look more beautiful (facial and body wise), are you with me?
This little piece of research will enable us to deal with some critical health challenges as we consume some unique set of fruits meanwhile each fruit and its respective health benefits and nutritive content shall be exposed in our subsequent articles.
Fruits and heart health.
Some fruits that when consumed lower cardiovascular risks include: Pawpaw, watermelon, bananas, berries (straw, rasp, and blue), citrus, apples, pineapple, grapes, plums, etc.
Consuming watermelon has been proven to release a compound called lycopene that decreases your cholesterol and blood pressure. Watermelon is also known to contain Vitamins A, B6, C, Magnesium, Potassium, and the substance citrulline, a nitric oxide that expands blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, all of which inspire your heart’s health.
The fibers, Potassium, vitamins, and antioxidants present in pawpaw promote good cholesterol (High-Density Lipid – HDL) and your heart functioning.
The high contents of potassium
and magnesium in bananas are being confirmed to lower blood pressure and stimulate your cardiovascular health.
If we are vigilant, we will notice the presence of potassium in the above-mentioned fruits and it is so in many other fruits that play a great role in lowering our cardiovascular risks. This is confirmed by the American Heart Association(AHA) as they encourage humans to reduce the consumption of salt (sodium) and improve on potassium-rich diets.
Fruits and Weight Loss.
Many varieties of fruits when consumed, due to their high fiber content, make us lose lots of calories as they bring about feelings of fullness, reduction in appetite, and tend to limit the ingestion of high energy carbs food. Some of these fruits include citrus, apples, bananas, berries (blue and rasp), grape fruits, etc.
The high content of fibers in citrus fruits induces feelings of fullness when taken in thus may bring about weight loss. Moreover, the peelings of lemons have been researched to contain phenol which when swallowed readily chops up weight.
Fruits and Diabetics.
Diabetics can go with many fruits of their choice as the American Diabetics Association (ADA) highly recommends that any fruit is OK for a diabetic if and only if that person is not allergic to a particular fruit. Examples of some fruits that can regulate our blood sugar level are pawpaw, grapes, plums, pineapples, berries ( straw, blue), avocados, oranges, apples, etc.
Munching plums supplies us with an antioxidant called anthocyanin which regulates blood sugar level.
Studies have revealed that people who eat grapes are less prone to type 2 diabetes ( inefficient use or production of insulin to regulate blood sugar level) as they supply them with sufficient minerals, vitamins, and high natural sugar content which may replace some sugary foods these people absorb.
For more information, kindly check on the Best fruits for diabetics to eat.
Fruits and cancer.
Consuming straw and blueberries
for example, have been confirmed by many researchers to supply us with antioxidants and vitamins A and C. These antioxidants inhibit the unnecessary growth of cells (tumor growth), and decelerates cancer types in the likes colon, lung, endometrial, prostate, mouth, etc.
The consumption of citrus fruits produces inside our body some useful plant compounds called flavonoids which have been confirmed to prevent some types of cancer (breast, pancreatic, stomach, esophageal).
Pineapples ( containing Vitamin C) and apples are rich sources of antioxidants that mimic free radicals (bad guys) formation or oxidative stress linked to cancer development.
Fruits and Libido.
Researches undertaken by some scientists suggest that most fruits with high levels of flavonoids tend to cause blood to flow and stay in the penis of men. Such fruits are berries, citrus, grapes, apples, watermelon, avocados or pears, plums, etc.
Avocados have been medically proven as a good fruit to combat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Avocados, funny as it sounds, are commonly known in some cultures as testicles.
Some men, after eating about two plums
before sex testified that they experienced an approximate 3 – 5 hours of continual erection with barely one or at most two ejaculations. Well, more findings are being done about this and subsequent results shall be made available.
Fruits and kidney health.
Some fruits really wish to gladden your kidneys if and only if you consume them. These involve bananas, citrus, pineapples, grapes, apples, etc.
The continual munching of citrus
fruits have been revealed to lower kidney stones, as low citrate levels in urine develop to kidney stones ( painful mineral crystals formed when your urine is too concentrated).
If you continually eat bananas, you are indirectly taken in potassium which is medically proven to prevent kidney diseases.
Fruits and Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
Macular Degeneration is a disease that tampers with that part of the eye called the retina which harbors the light-sensitive cells. Fruits that tend to limit this effect include watermelon, berries, citrus, pawpaw, pineapple, grapes, etc.
Older people who consume grapes
indirectly ingest antioxidants in the likes of lutein and zeaxanthine which keeps their eyes’ health up to date.
Pawpaw has also been medically proven to contain zeaxanthine
that improves the eyes’ health of its consumers as it filters harmful blue light rays away.
Fruits and Skin/Hair’s Health.
Many fruits when consumed tend to nourish the skin and hair. Some of these fruits include pawpaw, berries, citrus, grapes, pineapples, watermelon.
People who consume lemon acquire a good amount of vitamin C that stimulates the production of a substance called collagen. Collagen prevents damage as our skin is exposed to pollution caused by the sun or as we grow older.
Research conducted from the Journal of Dermatology and Therapy affirms that resveratrol found in the skin of red grapes can take care of acne ( a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes spot and pimples on the face, shoulders, etc people).
Fruits and Menstrual Cramps/ Women.
There are some fruits that when ladies eat, play
a significant role in their health. Studies report that women experience fewer pains after consuming some particular
fruits. Such fruits include bananas, pawpaw, watermelon, pineapples,
lemons, oranges, etc.
Ladies who continually take in pawpaw
indirectly consume a substance called papain ( an enzyme) which is
thought to reduce cramps. It’s so fascinating that this enzyme papain
and other antioxidants in pawpaw, when consumed by old ladies, is
affirmed by some studies that the wrinkles in their faces gradually
decrease and these ladies become prettier and younger.
Women generally lose lots of blood during menstruation. Consuming vitamin C-rich fruits like lemon
accelerates the absorption of iron from foods to the bloodstream. This improves the production of more red blood cells.
Ladies are advised to eat oranges
during their menstruation as these fruits are known to contain high
amount of magnesium, potassium, vitamins C, and D which relieve pain.
