This product serves only the Prodigy meters and test strips and provides a quick, easy way to ensure accurate blood glucose testing. In a nutshell, the prodigy control solution seeks to check testing technique and system performance. Prodigy Blood Glucose Monitoring Systems use both high and low glucose solutions.
The system is said to work properly and the testing technique rated good if and only if the control solution test result falls within the control range found on the vial’s label of the Prodigy No Coding Test Strips being used. However, if the results are out of range, quickly call the customer care or manufacturer of the concerned glucose meter.
It is important to be aware that the control range can alter with each new or latest vial of these No Coding Test Strips. So it is recommended to use the control range of your latest vial’s label of these test strips.
Why do we perform a control solution test?
Two main reasons are attributed;
- For the sake of practice before using your blood.
- Proper examination and efficient workability of your test strips and your glucometers.
When do we use this control solution?
Based on the products or user’s manual, this control solution can be used;
- Once a week (to ensure that you continue to have accurate results).
- As you begin using a new vial of test strips
- When test strips have been exposed to extreme environmental conditions.
- If the glucometer is dropped.
- If you change the battery in the meter.
Steps in Performing a Control Solution Test.
|1 ) Wash your Hands||Gently wash your hands with mild soap and water before performing any test. |
Be sure to dry them thoroughly.
|2) Insert Test Strip||Insert a test strip with the contact bar end entering into the test strip slot first. Push the test strip as far as it will go without bending it. |
The meter turns on automatically.
|3) Mark as a Control Solution Test||After the “(liquid drop)” symbol appears on the display, press the “M” button, and a “(bottle-like)” symbol appears on the display. With the “(bottle-like)” symbol on the display, the meter will not store your test result in the memory. If you decide not to perform a control solution test, press the “M” button again and the “(bottle-like)” symbol will disappear.||n/a|
|4) Apply Control Solution||Check the expiration and discard dates on your control solution and test strip vials.|
Shake the control solution bottle well, then remove the cap.
Squeeze the bottle and discard the first drop then wipe the dispenser tip with clean tissue paper or cotton.
Squeeze the bottle again to get a second drop onto a clean, non-absorbent surface or on your clean fingertip.
Bring the tip of the test strip to touch the drop of solution until the meter beeps.
|5) Check if the Test Result is in Range.||The control solution test result appears on the display after the meter counts down from 6 to 1.|
Compare the test result with the range printed on the test strip vial.
Each vial of Prodigy® No Coding Test Strips may have a different control solution range.
The result should fall within the printed range on the test strip vial.
To avoid contaminating the control solution with the content of the test strip, thou shall not directly apply the control solution onto the test strip.
Avoid using test strips or control solutions that have exceeded the discard date, are expired, or have been damaged. Your results may be inaccurate.
Check the expiration date on the bottle and cease from using it if expired.
Use within a period of 90 days from the date that you first open it. You may wish to record the discard date on the control solution bottle when you first open it. This serves as a reminder to discard after 90 days.
